INCREASES MADE. PROPOSED EXPENDITURE OVER- SIXTEEN MILLIONS. «v caki.r hmess association.: cori&Kiu. Received 10.10 a.m. to-day. LONDON, March 8. Air estimates for 1928 reach a net total or £16,250,000, an increase on last yonr of £700,000Sir Samuel Hoare, in a memorandum, explains that omitting special appropriations, there is a gross decrease of £851,000. despite the pravision of £200,000 for an expansion of the fleet air arm. This decrease has been e:feeted in a year in which the Royal Air Force, as distinct from the fleet air arm. lias been enlarged by two new flights in flying-boats and the formation of two new squadrons in India. The two new flights bring the air units ■ lotted to fleet work to twenty-five flights. Considerable progress has been made in co-operation and in uniformity with the Dominions’ air farces, as discussed at the Imperial Conference. Officers who joined the Royal Air Force on short .service commissions l after initial training in Australia have proved '-Or.m.-f.iv-es to he valuable and efficient. —A.P.A. and 'Sun.”
