RED ROSE’S TRIP
350 MILES OVER SEA
AKYAB (Burma), Dec. 21
Captain W. N. Lancaster and! Mrs. Keith Miller, who are flying to Australia in thei Red Rose, reached) here to-day after having made a new record —the' longest journey over the sea made by a light aeroplane. Captain Lancaster says: “"We had a splendid flight from Calcutta, of 350 miles over the sea. In the five hours out of sight of land navigation was perfect. “Whilst in Calcutta- last night we were guests at a big circus, and at an amusing -supper party in the circus tent, afterwards.
“A large crowd witnessed the- departure. “I left all my money under the- hotel pillow at Calcutta- this morning, and so arrived here penniless. Frantic telegrams- were despatched to Calcutta, but no reply has yet.been received.”
