In the 100 yards ladies’ championship Natalie Stratton won in 72sec. The previous record was 77 3-ssee. In the 220 yards girls’ intermediate championship, tiie same swimmer won in 3min 18 3-ssec, the previous record being 3min 29 3-ssee. AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. , AUCKLAND, Jan. 4. The Auckland provincial swimming championships were held at the tepid baths to-night. In the. 220 yards men’s breaststroke N. K. Sylon equalled the record of 3min 9 4-ssec held by E. C. Heard (Canterbury). The 100 yards was won by J, P. Farrell, the 18-year-old son of Mr. J. Farrell, the well-known manager for J. C. AVaLliamson, Ltd, In the 44Q yards ladies’ race Miss AV. Grant effected a surprise by defeating Mis® J. Bell, holder of the title. Following are the results of the principal events: — 100 yards, men.—J. P. Farrell 1, J. Enright 2, J. Fairgray 3. Won by a foot. Time, 60 2-ssec. 440 yards, ladies.—Miss AV. Grant 1, Miss J. Bell 2. The only starters AVou by fifteen yards. Time, drain 31 2-sse<\ 220 yards, men’s breaststroke.—N. K. Sylon I, T. Lowe 2. Miss G. Pidgeou, swimming against time, was third. Won by twenty yards. Time, 3miu 9 4-ssec. Miss Pidgeon’s time was 3min 37sec.
