Constab’e W. It; Thomason, late of the Wellington Police Force, has arrived in Hawera to succeed Constable J. M. Fleming, who has been transferred to Moturoa, New Plymou th. He commenced hie new duties -o-day. Messrs F. S. Ball, H. ,T. Harris, W. Pity]or and W. B. Wilson, of Blenheim, who are on a mptor tour, arrived in Hawera last evening on their way to Rotorua. They stayed at the Commercial Hotel and continued their journey to-dny. A very pleasant evening was spent on Monday last at the r.esideno? of Mr G. Collins to bid farewell to Mr Roy Stockwe'.l on the eve of his departure from Hawera to take up a position, in Feilding. Mr Collins presented tit? guest with a handsome, 1 solid leather brief bag a® a token of the high esteem in which he was held bv all who knew him. A happy gathering was concluded with the singmg of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
