Several irritating war regulations which survived under the name of Dora, generally cartooned as an interfering old woman, may be removed under the recommendation of a departmental committee, which favours the sale of cigarettes and tobacco in shops until 9.30 o’clock in the evening instead of 8 o’clock, and also the sale of tobacco and sweets in theatres, cinemas and public houses so long as they are open. The committee, however, recommends that compulsory early closing of shops generally could be embodied, in permanent legislation. NEW YORK, Jan. 2.
