SUICIDE: WHILE MENTALLY . DEPRESSED. (.BY TEEEGRA I'll CRESS ASSOCIATION. J WELLINGTON, Dec. 21. At the inquest concerning the death of Alexander Osborne, a married man of Lower Hutt, aged 60, whose body was recovered yesterday from the Hutt River, a verdict of suicide while in a state of mental depression was returned. Deceased had been in illhealth for some time. FOOT ALMOST SEVERED BY MOWER. BLENHEIM, Dec. 21. A boy named Eric Clifford, nine pears of age, got in the way of a mower driven by a lad named Scott. File knife almost -severed the foot. The sufferer was conveyed to hospital, where it was necessary to amputate the foot a-t the ankle. INQUEST ON THOMAS SHANAHAN WELLINGTON, Dec. 21. At the inquest concerning the death of Thomas Shanahan, single, aged 43, who w T as severely burned at the retort house at the gasworks on December 6, dying ten days later, a verdict was returned that deceased had died from heart, following the extensive burns accidentally received. From the evidence the coroner sail it seemed that ordinary precautions had been followed and t-liab it was one of those accidents! which happen so suddenly. There is no chance of preventing them.
