Nearly thirteen years ago a tourist, I-. King, and two guides lost their lives on Linda Glacier when attempting the as-ent of Mt Cook. About three months ago a- part of a leg of one of them was found in the ice, and now one of King’s boots has been found with the iare, still neatly tied in a bow at the front, as it was when he sot out on the fatal journey. It was ouncl oil the Hoehstetter icefield, between three and four miles from the spot where the party was lost. The bootlace and sock were still in a good state of preservation, except that the seam up the back of the boot has opened.
