The first of the Avinter euchre tournaments betAA’een members of the local Friendly Societies aa'u-s held in. the supper room of the Town Ha'll on Tuesday evening, AA-hen the Druids’ Lodge accepted a- challenge from the Foresters, the challengers being defeated by four games, the games ending Druids 31, Forsetens 27. Mrs. Ramsbottom Avon the prize for the lady scoring the moist games for the aai’ liners, and Ali.ss Ada Ramsbottom the prize for the lady scoring highest points for the losers. The annual meeting of the Patea Rifle Association takes -place on . the local range on Friday, King’s birthday. Entries received so far are u-umerous, and given fine weather a record for the -association should be established. Prize money to -the value qf £l6O is offered.
