The course was in perfect order. lhe totalisator handled £25,427 for the day, as compared with £28,867 for the first day last. year. The results are: —

At the end of the first -circuit Parkwood, St. Maura and Trenand were in front, with the others handy. Entering on -the last lap, Park-wood was still in front from Golden Devon, 'St. Maura, Loganwood, Dalnahine, Ouimet and Sea Pearl. In a fighting finish, Loganwood beat Parkwood by a nose, with Sea Pearl a length and three-quarters away next. Then followed Jack Potts. Time, 4.35. SOUTHLAND HANDICAP.
