‘ ‘ The Blue Lagoon, ’ ’ an adaptation from the story by the same name by H. de Vere Staepool, is at the head of the programme which commences at the Opera House to-morrow night, .in conjunction with Wee Jackie Harris. The picture was produced by a South African film company and is said to be an excellent version of the stofy. It was filmed on a tropical island off the coast of East Africa, and has an ideal setting. A boy and a girl, cousins, are travelling with the former’s father on board a ship which catches fire. They are put in a dinghy with an old Irish sailor, and the three reach a desert island. On the island the children live happily with the old sailor until he finds some rum and drinks himself to death. Left alone and entirely innocent, they grow up and eventually stumble across love. All sorts of adventures and an unexpected climax follow. Val Chard, as Dick when a child, is said to be excellent. The rest of the cast is a strong one. “The Blue Lagoon” screened in 960 picture houses in Great Britain. Miss Bettina Edwards will appear in a delightful prologue to the film. There is a full supporting programme.
