UNUSUAL MOTORING ACCIDENT. (by telegraph—press association.) NAPIER, Jan. 22. ‘ ' An unusual motor accident -occurred near Napier this morning, when a swarm of bees made for a car owned by Dr. Dore and driven by Mrs Dore. The latter applied the brakes and brought the ear to a sudden standstill, when another car, driven by Scarrott, which was close behind, crashed into the rear of the first car. Both vehicles were severely damaged. A broken windscreen in Scarrott ’s car caused facial injuries to Mrs Scarrott, who was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are not serious. RESCUED FROM THE SURF. AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. Burley Smith, aged six, got out of her depth at Chevalier while bathing this afternoon. She was rescued just in time and sent to the hospital. Her condition is not serious. GIRL FALLS OVER CLIFF. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. Ivy Smith, aged 12 years, fell 20 feet down a cliff near the Shelley Beach baths. She was picked up unconscious and sent to hospital with head and internal injuries. Her condition is critical. ACCIDENTALLY KILLED. DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. _ Regarding the death of Robert Bayliss, a married man, who was electrocuted while working on the electric lines in Gladstone Road on December 24, the Coroner (Mr H. W. Bundle) held that death was purely accidental and that no blame was attachable, either to the city corporation or to the lack of care of anyone on the job with deceased. EXCITING SURFING INCIDENT. WELLINGTON, Jan. 24. Mr J. Watterson, of 18 Cardell Street, Wellington, was caught in a treacherous undertijsv while bathing at Titahi Bay yesterday afternoon and was carried a quarter of a mile from the shore before being rescued. Many hundreds of people were on the beach and watched two men in a small dinghy, Mr W. Johnston and G. H. Sharratt, of Wadestown, brave the angry seas and rescue Watterson as he was on the verge of unconsciousness. On returning to the sjhore, the boat was capsized in the heavy surf, and bathers completed the rescue which had beep so heroically begun.
