PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air. and Airs. E. 0. Chivers, of Auckland, and formerly of Okaiawa, are on a short visit to the district, and are at present the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lees. They are both very well, and are now interested in looking up old friends. They will be in the district for some weeks.
Air. W. Armour, of Dunedin, who has fcleen, lacbing-health inspector at New Plymouth during the past three months, owing to the illness of Air. I Swindells, has been replaced by Air. F. G. Ooleman, of Hiawera, who will carry on the duties until" the end e. this month. Air. Swindells is to resume duty lat the beginning of February. Many friends in the district will learn with -sincere regret of the death this morning of Alias Agnes May Paul, .sister of Airs. EL A. Washer, of Okaiawa. Aliiss Paul had been, a sufferer from a. nervous trouble for many years, and had borne her sufferings with v wonderful fortitude. Some little time ago .she underwent tan operation, but it did not produce the cure hoped for. Deep sympathy will b© felt for her relatives in their .sorrow.
A Press Association message from Timaru states that Air W. E. Kinnerney, for many years a member of the firm of Perry, Perry and Kinnernev, solicitors, died' this morning, aged 72. The deceased was born in Wexford, Ireland, in 1854, and came to New Zealand in 1862. He was educated at private schools at New Plymouth, and came t*> Timaru in 1891. He joined the firm of Perry and Perry the same year. The deceased was a lawyer of outstanding parts, and was a recognised authority on municipal, harbour board and banking law.
