BOXING.
PURDY DEFEATS JANSEN. (BY- TELEGRAPH—rRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. In a splendid contest in the Town Hall before a crowded house, Chas. Purd.v (New Zealand) defeated Raymond .Jansen, the French boxer, on points in an exciting 15-round contest. Jansen was the aggressor from the first to the last round, evivently seeking to knock out Purdy, but the latter was too clever. His head and foot work were excellent. Purdy had a comfortable lead.
