SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON. (BY TELEGRAPH VttESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The following prisoners were sentenced by -Ml- Justice Heed in tlio Supreme Court to-day : —• Thomas Kelly, aged 28. labourer, for indecent assault, was sentenced to two years’ reformative treatment. Mis Honour saying it was *a case in which the protection of children was involved. William Maws on Channel-, for theft at Wellington, was let out for six months to see if he could resist the drink craving, a bond to be furnished. Walter Worthington, aged 38, baker, for forgerv and uttering at Napier, was sentenced to two Years’ hard labour. Joseph Francis Ward, aged 46, labourer, and Albert Joseph Bell, aged 43, labourer, for breaking, entering and theft at Palmerston North, were given two years’ hard labour. Joseph Whittle, lailias Tobin, aged 25, mechanic, for theft of a car and breaking and entering at Feilding, received three years’ hard labour. William George Gundy, for assault on a male, received 10 years’ hard labour. In 1911 accused received 10 years for interference with boys (and was let out on license. Joseph Pyrtle Howe, aged 38. carpenter, for theft at Upper Hutt. was gnen two years’ probation on condition that restitution of the property war made. ALLEGED MUR DEB. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION-' OPOTJKI, Jan. 21. The preliminary trial of John Sullivan, charged with murdering Jeremiah Williamson near Torere, on Deceinher 1, was concluded this afternoon after lengthy evidence by numerous witnesses for the Crown. No evidence was called for the defence. Accused was committed for trial at the Supreme Court at Gisborne.
