'l'lie 200 ini lew race at the Rockingham Speedway, Salem, New Hampshire, U.S.A., was won by the Los Angeles veteran driver, Harry Hartz. He made the world's record speed average for the cars of 91 cubic inches (loOOc.c.) capacity of 123.26 miles an hour for the 200 miles. Hartz led for the first 100 miles, where Frank Lockhart overtook and passed him, but was forced to retire at 146 miles with a broken connecting rod.
