YACHT CAPSIZED
STRUGGLE IN THE SURF. ONE MAN DROWNED FIVE OTHERS RESCUED. (by telegraph—press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 30. Ron Eden (18), of Grafton street, Linwood, was drowned at Sumner this morning,' when a yacht, of which he was a member of the crew, capsized. The other five members of the crew were rescued in an exhausted condition. The capsize was caused by a heavy breaker. A scratch surf crew of three from the Sumner Life-saving Club went out, and after a long struggle brought the five youths ashore. Two were unconscious for some time. Eden's body was not recovered.
