SUCCESSFUL DANCE,

The dance held in Kapuni Hall on September 3 was undoubtedly a great success, visitors being present from all parts of the. district, iiiduidiug Hawera, Eitham, Stratford and lOpunake. The ' supper wa® provided by some o® the local ladies.

During the evening there were two waltzing competitions, which brought 'big entries. The conditional was won by Alt Collins, of Hawera, and AEiss Bushel, of Eitham. Air Blaokstock, of Eitham, was the judge. The open competition, which was a keen contest, wais won. by Mr W. Thompson’ and Aliss M, LoVelly of Ka.pn.ni, aiwl was judged. by Air E. Gibbons. The spot dance was won by Air F. Hughe s and Mrs Whalen, and the card by Air Mouat and partner. Extras were played by Airs Davis, Mr C. Whalen, the Misses M. and E. Lovel and others. Alessrs H. and W. Eliiason acted as masters of ceremonies and kept things going until the early horn’s of the morning. The proceeds will go towards the children’s Christmas tree. The committee intend holding another big dance on Friday, September 24, when they intend. make the novelty and waltzing competitions a speciality, with. good; prize®.
