CHURCH OFFICES.

PROPOSAL TO ADMIT WOMEN

(BY TELEGRAPH —-PREBB ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Sept, 15. On the motion of the Roy. J. Comrie, the following was carried at a meeting of the Wellington Presbytery last night: “It is hereby ordered by the Presbytery of "Wellington to- the General Assembly, indicted to meet at Wellington on -November 9, to resolve that- he word ‘male’ be- deleted from paragraph 43 of the book of orders and to declare that in the- said book of orders wherever the word denoting the masculine is used it -shall be held to include also the feminine unless the contrary is explicitly stated, or to determine otherwise as to the Assembly in its wisdom shall seem best.” The Rev. Air Comrie Said it was quite time that women censed to be disqualified fr-o-m holding positions in the church, but he did not expect the motion to go through without a good deal of discussion, it (took the church 39 years to decide upon the admission of the organ to the services, and it was quite likely to take a long time to decide upon the -admission of women to the church.
