NEW PLYMOUTH ROAD BLOCKED
CHARABANC’S LUCKY ESCAPE

As the result of heavy rain during the last three days, the Mokau river is in flood and the New Plymouth road is covered by five feet of water eight miles fiom Te Kuiti. The service cars got through last night, but the rise overnight madie the road impassoble, and a detour via Mairoa is being made. The Aria, road is also blocked.
The driver of the charabanc conveying the touring Auckland football team reports that the- vehicle was struck by the first- fall of a slip in the Rangiriris. He accelerated and escaped the full weight of the falling earth.
