PIPING COMPETITIONS.
AMONG HAWEIIA BANDSMEN. Interesting competitions in piping amongst members of the Hawera. Pipe Band were held on Saturday evening. Pipe-Major N. Cruden, of New Plymouth, acted as judge, and at the conclusion of the competition paid a glowing tribute to the remarable improvement among the pipers since he judged the previous competition some nine months ago. The results were:— Senior class, for cup presented by Mr. R. P. Morrissey.—B. Henson i. A. Quin 2. Intermediate class, for medal presented by Chieftain AV. G. Simpson—A. E. Linn ]. J. Nairn 2.
