DAIRY COWS.

GREAT PRICES REALISED. 120 COWS AVERAGE £l3 5/-. That a strong demand exists for dairy cows of the right .class and type was shown on Wednesday last, when a clearing sale held on account of Mr E. Chapman, of the Glen. Road, an average for the 120 cows .submitted .was realised of £l3 os,' and this will be Krobably a record for such a sale. The ighest price secured was £22 10s. The herd was not comprised solely of Jersey cows, probably 50 per cent, of the number being made up of Holsteins and Shorthorn cross cattle. It was readily seen that Mr Chapman had been breeding on type the majority of cows being deep in the body, with plenty of udder development. There was a particularly large attendance, buyers being .present / from all parts of Taranaki, and from as far South as Wanganui. The outside buyers competed strongly .for all the nice grade Jerseys and were successful in securing three trucks, the average for which was £l9.

Mr Chapman, had made splendid arrangement's. and the who'e sale went with a great swing from start to finish, the time occupied 1 in selling the stock and implements being just over three; hours. The sale was conducted by the Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society.
