A bank manager’s pluck, followed by a thri 1 liny, .street chase, frustrated a. daring attempt .to lio'ld-up the Copnor branch of Lloyd’s Bank at Portsmouth. A smartly dressed young man entered the premises, presented a revolver at. the manager and said: “Give me all you have got; this is loaded.” . ~ The manager edged towards a side door. The intruder ordered him to halt and then grabbed a bundle ol fifty pounds worth of notes' and dashed out, with the 'manager in pursuit. A hue and cry followed. The fugutive mounted an .unattended bicycle, but a motorcar chased and ran him down, the bandit, being unhurt, -sprang to bis feet fired bis revolver at the car, and smashed a window screen and . a tyre. A policeman boarded the. motor-lorry, caught up to and. overpowered him and effected bis arrest. —.Reuter,
