For the half-yearly payment of interest to the natives on the West Coast Native Settlement leases, which cover a large area extending from Waitara to Waitotara, there was a large influx of natives to Hawera this morning. Messrs Jellicoe and Ngahana, of the Native Trust Office, Wellington, conducted the pay-out in the County Council office. As this year the dates of the payments have heen changed from February and August to April and October, the payment is being made slightly earlier than usual, and the next pay-out will take place in April.
