NEW TREATISES FOR HA AVER A. As announced previously, the controlling authorities of the Bank of Australasia have decided to erect premises in Hawera. The sketch plans have been approved, and the working drawings are well under way. Tenders will be invited for the erection of the building in about 10 days’ time. The new building will be erected on the site of the present premises, which are to be pulled down. The plans show a substantial two-storey building of pleasing exterior which combine banking chamber and residence. Accommodation is provided for approximately double the present staff, and the public space is considerably larger than that of the present premises. Around three sides of the public 6pace are the manager’s room, accountants’ room, the ledgers, hills and tellers, all conveniently arranged so that any officer can be interviewed direct as required. The comfort of the staff has been further provided for by the installation of a circulating hot water system of heating. There is a private entrance at the side for the residential portion of the premises, which are spacious and fitted with all modern conveniences. On the ground floor are the hall, sit-ting-room, dining-room, kitchen, offices, etc., and upstairs five bedrooms, bathroom. etc., and a large balcony. The exterior is treated in the Roman Doric style of architecture, and has a hold nupearance very suitable for this class of work. The architect is Air C. H. Alitchell, A.R.1.8.A.. of the firm of Afessrs Atkins and Alitchell. of Wellington, the hank’s architects.
