DEPORTATION ORDER

APPEAL AGAINST DECISION. TO GO TO PRIVY COUNCIL. PROCEEDINGS IN FULL COURT. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Nov. 25, 10.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 25. When the case of Walsh and Johnson came before the Full Court, the latter decided that as the application had been removed to the High Court, the Full Court could not proceed with the matter. Counsel for Walsh and Johnson have now decided to appeal to the Privy Council against this decision, on the grounds that the Full Court was in brror in surrendering its jurisdiction to the High Court. The appeal will not be lodged till after the habeas corpus proceedings' in the High Court have been determined. Counsel intend to appeal direct to the Privy Council without applying for leave.

ATTITUDE OF LABOUR. MODERATES GAIN THE DAY. SYDNEY, Nov. 24. A stop-work meeting of the Sydney branch of the Seamen's Union,, attended by 1500 members, decided not to take .any drastic action at present with regard to showing disapproval at the deportation of Tom Walsh and Jacob Johnson. Attempts by the extreme element, led by Messrs. CJasey and Lyons, to have all ships declared “black” in the event of deportation, were defeated by the moderates’ motion that delegates be appointed to wait upon the Trades and Labour Council with a view to ascertaining what .assistance would be forthcoming in the event of a strike, being declared almost unanimously. A Melbourne message states that a meeting of the Victorian branch of the Seamen’s Union decided that in the event of the High Court deciding against Walsh and. Johnson, a special stop-work meeting be called to consider what action should be takeni. At a conference lasting two hours of the strikers and the owners, the latter submitted certain terms for a setlement of the dispute, but the general meeting of .seamen rejected them.
