200,000 MAY STRIKE. OBJECTION TO REDUCED WAGES. BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPT BIGHT. LONDON, July 22. A further industrial dispute was mentioned in the House of Commons. A Labourite, Mr Riley, drew attention to the fact that the notices to enforce reductions in wages- on 200 { 000 textile operatives in Yorkshire expired, on the 23rd, that the operatives’ unions deemed to accept the reduction, and failing an agreement to withdraw the notices these operatives were likely to strike. , •, Sir A. Steel Maitland, in reply, said he had written to both sides, suggesting that they hold a further meeting with the view to avoiding strife.
