SCENIC RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
CARS OVERTURN. JOY-RIDERS LEFT HANGING OVER, A CROWD. Twenty-five people travelling at a speed of about 100 miles an hour had a narrow escape from death on the scenic railway at the Paris Exhibition recently. The railway runs parallel to the between the Invalides and the Alma bridges. Each train is composed of four cars, each holding twenty-five people. A train dashed at breakneck speed down the hist incline but one, and the first three trucks turned over. The last truck broke from its coupling and smashed through the wooden parapet overlooking the street. A steel girder caught the rear wheels of the truck and fortunately, prevented .it from falling on the heads of .the people iu the street below. Firemen arrived in a few minutes and rescued the joy-riders from their perilous situation. Qnly two people were seriously injured. The municipal authorities have closed the scenic railwav until further notice.
