'• SCHOOL QUEEN CARNIVAL, f There wa s 31l good attendance at the meeting to arrange the, school queen carnival, and all present were formed into a general committee witli power to add. Mr. Collins (chair),. Mr MeKinnrin (-sec. pro tein)> Mr. .Palmer Mrs. Wemvss and Mrs. Gilbert were elected as an executive committee. Five schoolgirls were nominated for the- position ,of candidate-, and were subsequent. Tv voted on by the/ school .children. The ii‘choice fell on little Annie Temple, i ton.-At the .meeting, Mr. Palmer explained that R.iverlea, Awatuna, Maunga’hume. and Tefjfiri teachers had decided' that each school use its own funds, and the .central entertainments would be pooled and equally divided. _ T HALL BALL. The hall committee is catering lor a big attendance at the hall on Friday, 224th inst., to celebrate the opening of the enlarged- and improved sup-per-room A strong ladies’ committee is looking after the supper arrangements ; trifles, fruit-salad and jellies will be served, and the committee is working hard~at the floor. Renwick’s orchestra of four instruments has been engaged for the occasion-. \. . / HOUSE WARMING. The members of the Presbyterian church, gathered at the home of .Mr. T. McCarrison. last week to welcome home the bride andi groom. A very enjoyable time was spent. Mr. Moore welcomed the couple, and Mr., McCarrison feelingly replied,
