RAVAGES IN TWEED RIVER DISTRICT. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION -COPYEIGHT Received July 22, 10.25 a.m. SYDNEY, July 22. Ravages of the bunchy top disease in the banana plantations in the Tweed Riiver district are reported. Previously this was a large exporting centre, but so disastrous have been the effects) that the local fruit-growers association, which handled the trade, us. no longer required, and has been disbanded. A movement is afoot in Sydney to re-establish the banana trade with Fiji. A shipping firm has offered to provide suitable steamer accommodation if sufficient inducement offers.
