Rain, which i.star ted on Monday morning, developed into a heavy downpour last night, 'amounting in some places to a deluge, in the Waireka Valley in particular. At Bllerslie the water is reported to be three feet deep on some parts of the road. The Ivakanui River is in high flood, and parts of the roads front Malieuo to Ivakanui and Kurihekai are under water. No damage is reported so far. It is still raining lightly. OHRITSCHURCH, July 15. Rain set in '.steadily lalst night and continued over North Canterbury, causing heavy loss to farmers. Lambing as suffering severely. The rain, though from the south-east, is semitropicalily warm.
