DEMONSTRATION FARM.
MANAGEMENT OF WAIMATE WEST COMMITTEE MEETING. The Wuimate West Demonstration Farm Committee met at Manaia yesterday. There were present : -Messrs J \\ . Deem (chairman), E. J. Betts, S' S. McKay. J• Leslie, W. H. Le Flemino-, R. Dunn, A. J. Glassoii, -LLong, A. Gamlin, and A. G. Paterson (manager). CULLING. , Referring to the question of culling from the farm herd, consideration or which had been deferred at the previous meeting, the chairman said that from the records it did not appear to be necessary the herd having in 80 odd days averagpd 3021 b butter-fat. The cows had "averaged 331 lb and the heifers 2441 b. it was decided that no culling be June at present. TOP-DRESSING. The chairman recommended that 10 acres of field No. 2 be top-dressed with super, and the remaining two acres with Nauru, each portion to be given 2cwt. per acre. Field No. 3. a new pasture, should be treated with lew t. of super per acre. The portion of field No 5 which it was not intended to plough should be similarly dealt with. No. 6 excepting the portion broken up, should be treated with manure as previously, the broken portion to receive half a ton of lime per acre. No. 7, which had been previously treated with basic super, should receive another 2cvvt. —The recommendations were adopted. „ „ _ STOCK VALUATION. Consideration was given to valuation tor the purpose of preparing the annual balance-sheet, and values were fixed as follows: 43 cows at £l l each, eicrht springing heifers at £lO each, eight vearlings at £5 each, two bulls at £ls each, two horses at £2O one horse at £lO, one hoar at £4 4s. four sows at £5 and 16 store pigs (three to four months) at £1 each. WATER SUPPLY. The question of connecting the farm with the Manaia town water supply was mentioned bv Mr. Betts, and alter the previous negotiations ig the matter had been .reviewed bv the chairman, Messrs Long and McKay weie appointed to wait upon the Town Board with a view to reaching finality.
