HUNTING.
LAIONX-WANGAXI*L CLUB. MEET AT MAXIMA. The meet at Manilla at Air. A. AlitcheH’.s farm is always a popular function, and therefore despite the inclement weather on \\ ednesday there was a good muster of hunting men: and a very interesting afternoon’s sport was enjoyed. Just after the throw! off. a hare was put up in Cunningham’s property. “Puss’’ gave the hounds and .huivten; a lively quarter of an hour's run before .she was caught in the ro;id padclock. No sooner had the hounds got going again when they put up another hare, and this one gave them a great run, covering probably five miles before they effected a kill. These were the two outstanding events in a capital afternoon's outing. The company then adjourned to Air. Mitchell's..home, where they were all royally entertained by Airs. Mitchell and the Aliisses Mitchell. On behalf of the club members, Air. R. Crocker, deputy master, expressed the appreciation, of all to Mr. Alitchell and Messrs. Cunningham brothers foi their kindness in giving them the privilege of hunting over their properties. He said also he was very pleased to see members present from Waverley. Messrs', J.up,icon (2) and Watkins. The hospitality shown by Air. and Airs. Mitchell and the Misses Alitchell war also happily acknowledged by Mr. Ciocker.
In reply, Mr. Mitchell said he was probably the oldest member riding that day. He had .aWays, been glad to see members hunting his property, and he hoped to see them many times more in the future. Mr. Cunningham also replied, saying that the members of the c-lub were always, welcome, and lie hoped it was not the last time by a long way that they would be at Manaia. Mr. Dave Lupton, as one of the southern members, expressed lm pleasure, at being piesent. He hope;, to see many down for the point to point steeplechase meeting next week, ami offered to stable any horses from Haweia district which were .sent down to that meeting. Heanty cheers for the owners of the piopertifeij, and lor Mis. and the Misses .Mitchell concluded a very ploasatvt afternoon’s outing. Amongst the .straight-goers were the following: Deputy Master H.
