LONG SAILING RACE.
SAN FRANCISCO TO TAHITI. SEC OND VESSEL ARE IVES. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Julv 10, 11.15 a.m. PAPEETE, Julv 9. The Idalia artived on Wednesday, finishing .second, having taken 28 days to sail from San Francisco. One of the longest sailing races in the history of the snort commenced on June 10 at San Francisco and has now lieen concluded. The course was from San Francisco to Papeete, Tahiti, a distance of between 3500 and 4000 miles. Three schooners and a ketch entered for the race. Tliev were Air. L. A. Norris’ Alariner, Air. John Piver’s Eloise. Dr. E. R. Parker’ H Idalia, and Air. Alark Foxanna’s Shawnee. The first three fly the flag of the San Francisco Yacht Club. The race was won bv the yacht Mariner.
