LONDON WOOL SALE. .EXCELLENT COMPETITION. > OA 81.8 - CROSS ASSOCIATION —COPVKiUHT LONDON, July 7. At the wool sales' ithe attendance was believed to be a record. Competition was excellent, particularly from the Continent, and the sale was most 'satisfactory. There were few withdrawals. Merinos were mostly caken by the Continent. An excellent selection of Sydney greasies met a. keen demand and sold at from, par to 5 per cent, over the •-losing prices at the last sales, iconrcd.s were rather leas appreciated, but were generally firm. Only a small selection of crossbreds was offered. A few parcels of New Zealand halfbreds met excellent cbmipetvtion, and advanced a penny'a pound. Scoured slipes were not- materially changed. FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. A record for Taranaki this year was established at Mr Albert Ward’s sale, conducted by the Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand at Okaiawa yesterday. The herd had shown particularly good returns, but contained a fair number of matured cows. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, and from Wanganui and Waverley. The latter buyers secured more than half the offering. The whole herd averaged £l6 2s, and with two very old cows and one late calver the average was over £l7; 19 cows sold from £l7 10s to £25. Pigs were also in big demand. The sows averaged about £7 and the store pigs’ 28s 6d per head; waggon aged horse £3O, sundries full values.
