RUGBY AFFAIRS.

REFEREES AND RULES. THE N.S.W. TOUR, (BY TELFGRAPII PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 9. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union exception was taken to some statements published in the rule book issued by the Referees’ Association, on the ground that it acted as if it were the controlling body of the game. It was decided to call the association’s attention to the matter. It was reported to the meeting that New South Wales wanted to send 29 men with a manager and a masseur instead of 26. It was considered the latter number was quite enough to play ten matches, and the proposed increase was refused. The N.S.W. Union also protested against playing a test at the end of the tour, pointing out that New Zealand had taken the same fine in England. The meeting voted £440 to further school football.
