V\ a-wace, on behaii ol tne Canterbury Park 'iio.tung Club moved a (series ol proposals with a view to abolishing tiie New Zealand 'Plotting Association and substituting therein re- district committees. . The motion, if carried, said Air. Wallace, would save expense and maintain the dignity of trotting. Mr. B. S, Ii win, Fo-rbury Park Club, seconded tiie motion. He said his committee was unanimous in .supporting it. He thought it more likely they would lie' able to get suitable men to act on district committees than on the association. Air. J. Hannon moved as an amendment that the matter should be referred to executive to bring up a report and circulate it amongst the clubs, and that a .special meeting of the conference be called to deal with the matter. Air. Robilliard seconded the amendment. Air. Rowe supported the motion strongly. They had, lie said, heard Christchurch spoken of as the home .oi trotting, but he would say it was the home of discontent. Alter others' had .spoken, Air. Hannon agreed to alter his amendment to provide that the matters should be deferred till the next annual meeting of the conference. Air. Selig said the association, ..at his (suggestion, had agreed that Die should exercise a vote on the question, which was one entirely for the clubs. The amendment wa.s carried with the proviso that the executive’s' report should he printed and circulated amongst the clubs prior to the conference. The conference passed resolutions giving pensons as well as clubs the right to appeal against decisions of the assodilation, and giving the right to appeal from the aasoeation's decisions to conference; forbidding officials vo hold the'dual position of handicapper and (S-tarter or liandicapper and judge ; the compulsory registration of eolours before. Angusst 31. 1926; prohibiting the use of metal-lined whips; refusing to allow persons disqualified for more than a,particular race or races to race any horse till the disqualification is removed or enter a racecourse under a penalty not exceeding USO. A new rule was passed dealing with appeals under rule 341. . A proposal to increase the membership of the association from nine to ten and to give the North Island an extra member found 18 supporters to 13, but was lost, as -the majority was insufficient. The following officers were elected : Air. 11. F. Nicoll, president (reelected); Air. ,T. Rowe, vice-president; Air. O. Al. Oliver, treasurer; committee, Messrs. Invin. Oliver and Alaekenzie. It was decided not to allot totaiis'ator licenses as in the past season.
