o STEAM LAUNCH SUNK. (by TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, July 8. Th© Union Company’s steamer Wainui collided with and sank the *»team launch Iris Eileen off Rangitoto beacon after leaving for Gisborne last night. There were two men on the launch, Albert Lawrence O’Brien and Raymond Little, and they jumped into the water and were picked up by the Wainui’s boats and Brought back to Auckland by the Wainui, apparently little worse for their immersion.

The launch was owned by O’Brien and his brother, and was valued at about £I2OO.

INQUEST. AUCKLAND, July 8. At the inquest on the two-year-old son of Air C. E. Skipper, of Papatoetoe, it was stated the child fell from its chair and sustained injuries to the head.
