On Sunday morning the family was seated at breakfast when the young man accidentally allowed his knife to fall to the floor. The young lady stopped him as he stooped to pick it up, saying, “Don’t, you will get a disappointment.” Sho then picked up the knife, and said that she would give Mm a surprise. When questioned as to when he would like the surprise, he said, “Tomorrow morning.” He got it; for on rising in the morning he learned that the prospective bride had disappeared. He notified the police, and also informed them that he feared that she had come to harm, as she had a fairly large sum of money in her possession. The police, after inquiring at places down the line, were able to report that a. girl answering the description had been located at Wer ris Creek, having arrived there by car on Monday. The disappointed bridegroom and the girl’s mother left for Werris Creek by the next train, but word was received in Armidale to the effect that the girl had not been found. Apparently the girl got up early on Monday morning, and left soon after by car. No explanation could he given for the girl’s action except that she received a telegram from her aunt, which said, “Too young to • marrv, wait.”

The girl was 20 years of age, and appeared to be attached to her fiance. She fixed the date of the wedding herself, _ and elected to be married in Armidale. The police scout the idea that she has been kidnapped, and are satisfied that she decided at the last moment not to be married.
