BURNED TO DEATH.
FATE OF INFANT. LEFT ALONE -JN A HOUSE. IBY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATIONTE AW.AMUTU, May 11. A distressing fatality was reported from Korakonui, a settlement some - miles hade from Te Awamut-u, this morning, resulting in the 18-months-old child of Mr. Robert Wyllie being burned to death. Mr. Wyllie, was away at the time, and his wife was attending to farm duties. About 7 o’clock she went out to the milking shed, leaving the child asleep in its cot and a fire smouldering in the grate. She was engaged in milking for nearly two hours, and, on returning discovered the dwelling ablaze.. Approach was impossible, ! and the child was burned to death. Deceased was a boy of 18 months and the only child.
