A' L-ondon cable message states that after consultation with the doctor it was.announced.that Lord Milner s condition gives cause for anxiety. It hais been officially ascertained that the Government lias rejected a site at Point England, Tam ale i River, for a combined stir ba.se for Auckland. The decision was due to the price asked for • the land, which was regarded as excessive. The Government is considering another site (states an Auckland Prese Association message). Announcement is made that the hanks in Hawera will be closed on Thursday, the clay of Mr Massey’s funeral. In. order to add to the funds tor their injured nlavers’ benefit, the City Football Club'will hold a. grand dance on Wednesday, June 3, in the Savoy Rooms.
