MEETING OF TOWN BOARD
The Opunake Town Board £tt its last monthly meeting received a letter from Hawera Borough Council forwarding circular regarding information required in form D under the motor regulations. The suggestion was that the distances required are only guessed and that the local authorities in each district from Waitara in the north to Wanganui in the south; That each local bodies districts named give the milage of the highway, and that distance Ire defined 'bv the local authorities official mileages. The clerk had supplied the information asked for. The Lands Department notified that the unnamed road on the foreshore was approximately one chain wide. Arising out of an application for a street lamp, it wa s decided to set up a committee to consider the adjustment of the street lighting. The ranger reported that 50 head of stock were impounded and 60 released on the road. 'The hoard wrote to the council asking if they would he prepared to tender for construction of the main Road; also to the W'aimnte Council asking if they would be prepared to hire machinery if they would not submit a price for the work. - (it was decided that the ten per cent penalty on unpaid rates will be imposed after 13th. The clerk \vn ß instructed to notify owners of vehicles particularly motor vehicles, that the by-law penalties will be enforced if the practice of traversing on the footpath .is continued. Also, that other obstructions on footpaths must lie removed. Alterations to the supper room at the Town Hall, estimated to cost £BO, were authorised. —Times,
