TENNIS BALL. .V..' v The Waickura tennis bud, which was held in the Manaia Town Hali on Wednesday night, was a. great success. Visitors were present from all parts of the district; Every detail in connection with this function was thoroughly carried out, which reflects great credit on the committee. The hall was very tastefully decorated with different coloured streamers, and the supper-room was very artistically decorated. The floor was m capital order, and first-class -music was supplied by ■’ Sharp’s orchestra. Extras were played by Mrs Nuku. Messrs A. Elkmgton and Rangi Katere very ab'y carried out the duties of M.’sC. The open waltzing competition was won by Mr C. Whalen and partner, Mr Langley and partner being second. The card waltzing competion was won by Mrs I>. Price, and Mrs W. Opai ably carried out the duties as judge of the waltz competition. The spot waltz competition was won by Mr W. Kingi and partner. A splendid supper was provided by the 'aches’ committee, consisting of Mesdames S. Rei; Wl ’Opai, Tamanui. Tonga, Misses Rei Maine arid Matha Tamanui. Both committees are to ho congratulated on the splendid manner in which they carried out their duties in connection with the function, everyone present thoroughly enjoying themselves. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The. Manaia Plunket Society had a very successful day on Tuesday. The total takings from the stall was £23. There were also sa’es for the cause at the Farmers’ Co-operative Saleyards, • which will add to the total. The total takings will he over £3O. During the Hav there was a cake guessing competition. The correct weight of the cake was 8 lbs Uozs, Mr L. Young being the winner with a guess of 8 lbs loz. There was also guessing the correct 'ength of a piece of string, for which the prize was a goose, which was won by Mrs R. Smith, 17 yards 18 inches, the correct length being 17 yards 10J inches. The society wishes to- heartily thanlt all donors for their gifts, also to specially thanlf'Mr A. Gamlin for gift of sheep, and Mr J. J. Patterson for barley. i ; ' FOOTBALLERS’ BALL. Great interest is being taken in the forthcoming Wairnate Footballers’ annual hall. which i* to take place in the Manaia Town Hall on Wednesday, May 27. Special preparations are being made by the general, committee to make this function eclipse all prevoius halls. The public can thoroughly rely on spending a real good enjoyable evening. A first-class orchestra has been engaged. Floor and supper will be extra special. : *
