AUROA HALL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. Approximately twenty memibers of the Auroa Flail Society were in attendance at the annual meeting held in the hall on Saturday evening. Mr. D. Penny (retiring chairman) presided.

BALANCE-SHEET

yhe balance-sheet showed the year’s receipts to be £69 18s lOd while'expenditure amounted to £74 7s 4d, leaving a debit of £4 8s 6d. This, however, the chairman explained, showed a reduction of £lO 19s Id on the debit balance brought forward from the previous year when it had stood at £ls 7s 7d." The principal items of expenditure were the purchase of crock ery and the laying of new drainagepipes along the front of the hall, where the approach had been raised and a big improvement effected by this work. But for these necessary expenses,, the year would have terminated wjtli a substantial credit balance, and considering that the items named were ox such importance the position could be regarded as very satisfactory. The balance-sheet was adopted without discussion.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Prior to the election of officers Mr. Penny intimated that in view of his anticipated departure from the district he could not accept nomination for reelection as chairman. The election resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr, A. Kruse; hop. secretary, Mr. A. R. Dunn (re-elected); treasurer, Mr. \V. A. Brown; auditors, Messrs. T Kilpatrick (re-elected) and J.. Hornsby ; committee, Messrs. D. Barlow, D. Cameron J. Cameron, J. C. Duff, H. Roberts', J. Hartley, H. Hartley j (re-elected) H. Buxton, R. Tremain and Y. Sherin, with the other officers. Mr. P. Mention was made of the fact that on certain occasions the hall lights had been left binning by those responsible for hiring the hall, and it was decided to levy an extra charge of 10s should similar instances occur in the future. On the motion of Mr. H. Buxton a hearty vote of thanks, which Was car. riecl by acclamation,' was accorded Mr. Penny in appreciation of his services to the society and the improvements which had hee t i effected in the hall during the three vans $n which he had officiated as chairman. Eulogistic comment was also made conerning the efficiency with which Mr. A. IL Dunn had discharged the secretarial duties, and a farther, vote of thanks to all officials was passed.
