OKAIAWA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ANGLICAN BAZAAR, A bazaar in aid of St. Aidan s Church was held oil Wednesday afternoon and evening, the attendance being very good, particularly in the evening. The various stalls were well filled with goods of excellent quality. The business done was highy satisfactory. Those in charge were: — Sweet sta'll, Mesdames 0. Crawford and Good; plain stall, Mesdames Hollis and Allan; fancy stall, Mesdames Mortimer and Barclay; cake stall, Mesdames Houlahan and J. Johnstone; produce stall, Mesdames Clarke and Ward; Christmas tree, Mrs. R. Shearer; hoop-la, Misses Gibbs and Baxter; tea-room, Mesdames Edwards, Better and Dundas. In addition there were numerous competitions such as weightguessing, nail-driving, etc. A cookery competition, with the exception of the class for bread, drew quite a number ol entries, and the judge had a hard task in making her awards, so excellent was the quality. The results were as follow; Bread, Mrs. Christiansen 1 (Mr. Houlahan’s special 501 b flour); family cake, Mrs. T. Johnstone 1 (Mr. J. Barclay’s special, value 22s 6d), Mrs. Mortimer 2, Mrs. D. Cameron 3; ginger-bread, Mrs Christiansen 1 (Mr. W. Williams’ special, value 10s), Mrs. Sutherland 2, Mrs. J. Oldfield 3; sponge sandwich, Miss R. Rogers 1 (Mr. Mortimer’s special, value 10s), Mrs. Christiansen 2 (Mr, Mortimer’s special ss), Mrs. Allan 3. The bulk of the work in connection with the bazaar had fallen upon the ladies of the guild, who have been preparing for the event for some months past, and they are certainly to he congratulated upon the success of their efforts. The lion, secretary (Mr. H. R. Penny) is also deserving of a special word of praise. A large amount of work fell upon his shoulders and it was, as usual with him, done well and efficiently. During the afternoon some musical selections were given by Mrs. G. Betts and the Misses Betts (piano, violin and 'cello), and in the evening Mrs. Crosby sang a solo, the items being much aporeciated.
