A very pretty wedding x>f considerahie local interest was solemnised at St. Mark’s Church, Kaponga, on April 22, when Sarah Florence Certrude, second' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .J. T. Humphries, of Jiiverlea, was married to Mr. Charles Henry Maindonald, of Opunake.. The Rev.‘Mr. Solomon, of Opunake, performed the cerdmony. The bride, wJio was given away by her father, entered the church to the strains of the wedding march, played by Miss Myrtle Evans, of Kaponga. The church had been tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride was charmingly attired in a frock of ivory velvet, trimmed with ostrich feathers, and shoes to match. She wore the customary veil and orange blossoms, and carried an exquisite shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums interspersed with maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Pita Evans, who wore (i, very becoming frock of electric blue velvet, and carried a daintily arranged bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maiden-hair fern The duties of best man were ably fulfilled by Mr. P. 1. bane, of Kaponga. 'The bride’s mother wore a very effective fawn costume, with a black panne velvet hat, while Ihe bridegroom’s mother was dressed in black silk and wore a black hat. The guests were entertained by Air. and Mrs. Humphries at their residence at Riverlea, where a sumptuous repast was partaken of. the bride’s mother having done all the catering, including a handsome three-tier wedding cake. The usual toast list was dispensed, to the accompaniment of musical honours. The bride was the recipient of many varied and useful presents, including a number of cheques. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a grey stole, and to the bridesmaid a gold bracelet ; the present of the bride to the bridegroom was a gold dress ring.
