ADDITIONS WANTED.

' AT HAWERA POST OFFICE. MINISTER’S REPLY. The Council of the Hawera Chamber of Commerce last night received the following reply from the PostmasterGeneral in connection with their request for additional accommodation for the transaction of public business at the Hawera Post Office:— ‘‘l beg to inform you that the question of effecting an improvement in the existing arrangements has already lieen under review by my department, and wi'l be given further consideration in due course. In this connection, it is pointed out that the provision of , improved accommodation would involve considerable expenditure. The matter ' will, however, be dealt with in order of urgency, having regard to the requirements of other -places at which the increase in the Department’s business warrants additional accommodation.” A member expressed the opinion that the letter was one of the departmental stock ones, but the chairman said the latter portion of it differed from the type referred to. The letter was received.
