PUBLIC NOTICES. lIAWEEA BOROUGH COUNCIL. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER. is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the Hawera Borough Council,, held on .MONDAY, the 16th day of March, 1025, the following resolution was passed and will be submitted for confirmation at a meeting of the Council to be held on MONDAY, the 20th day of April, 1925,! at the Council Chambers, High Street, Hawera: — RESOLUTION. The Hawera Borough Council hereby makes by special order the following By-laws under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and its amendments, and in exercise and pursuance of all other powers enabling it in that behalf. The said By-laws are now signed by the Mayor and Town Clerk for the purpose of identification. The object and purport of the proposed By-laws is as follows: — I. The short title is “The Hawera. Borough By-laws (Amendment), 1925.” 11. These By-laws are to be read with “The 1 ;, Hawera Borough. By-laws, 1913,” and “The Building Bylaws, 1912,” and amendments, and the penalty provisions thereof shall apply. 111. The Hawera Borough By-laws, 1913, are amended: —Refusal to give name to constable or inspector an offence; pedestrians to keep to the left; By-law 26 (Crossings) amended; bicycles to carry red reflector; cyclists to keep one hand on handlebar and one foot on pedal; fares to be charged by licensed carriers for carriage of goods within the Borough provided; license fees for licensed carriages plying for hire reduced; extraordinary water supply extended to include Watering gardens by hose; By-law 17a (Sanitary Plumbing) amended; new provisions as to common drains; By-law 225 (Water .Closets) amended; By-law 313 (Billiard Rooms) amended; persons under 18 forbidden to enter billiard rooms and keeper not to permit same to enter; keeper not to permit intoxicating liquor in billiard rooms; no person to bring liquor into billiard room or consume liquor therein; all billiard rooms to close on Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day; provisions as to > revocation and . suspension of billiard room licenses; provisions for licensing billiard room attendants; forms and definitions re billiard rooms; new provision as to tombstones in cemetery; new provisions as to the Public Library. IV. The Building By-laws, 1912, are amended: No person to erect a new dwelling house in outer area unless land has frontage of not less than 40 feet, and such land has area .of not less than one-eighth acre, and new erection will not result in more than one (1) dwelling house for each eighth-acre of the total area of such land; By-law 13 (internal walls and partitions) amended; new provisions as to ceilings in Brick Area No. 1; new provisions as to reinforced concrete walls. V. The Hawera. Borough By-laws (Amendment), 1919, are amended: New provisions as to hoardings and placards and providing • for licensing of hoardings and show cases; • By-law 55E repealed; Bylaw 55F IV. (motor cars) amended; By-law 55F V. (lighting of motor cycles; motor lorries’ delivery vans and waggons to (Carry mirrors; passenger fares for licensed motor cars prescribed; licensed motor cars to carry table of fares; no person to drive; or be in charge of motor car, lorry, or cycle while under influence of liquor; drivers not to pass any other vehicle proceeding in same direction at any street intersection or junction; no person to bring motor lorry, car or cycle to standstill within half-chain of ' street intersection or junction; side chairs attached to motor cycle to carry lamp: By-law 551 (ii) (motors • standing in certain

streets) amended. VI. The Hawera Borough Amendment By-law, 1921, is amended: No person shall drive any motor ear, lorry, van, cycle, or other motor vehicle across the intersection or junction of two streets whether public or private, or around the corner of any street at a greater speed,than 6 miles per hour VIT. New provisions as to licensed stfge carriages. VIIT Fees prescribed in respect of licenses pursuant to regulations under “‘The Health Act, 1920. 1 ? such licenses to expire 31st. March. IX. Persons delivering bread to carry same in basket. A full copy of the proposed new Bylaws is deposited at the offices of the Hawera Borough Council, High Sti*or, Hawera, and is open to the" inspection of the public without fee during o,hco hours until 4 p.m. on the said 20th day of APRIL, 1925.
