WORKS
LONDON, Feb. 1. The steel trade is one of the “black spots” for the moment, but Sir William Larke, director of the National Federation of Iron and Steel Manufacturers, made a striking forecast in an address to the members of the London Iron and Steel Exchange. “If employers and employed will only puli’ together and realise the truth of the maxim that high wages are only possible when they produce low costs,” he says “I think we shall ultimately not only hold our own, but fully employ our increased capacity. “We have in this country works unsurpassed for technical equipment anywhere in the world. This is the considered opinion of one of the leading officials of one of the greatest works on the Continent of Europe.”
