Twenty fresh cases of infantile paralysis were reported throughout the Dominion during the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday. They vveie as follows: Auckland health district, 2; Wellington district, city 1, Island pay l, Wanganui 5, Feilding i, Masterton l; Christchurch district Rangiora I; Peel Forest 1; Otago district, Berwick h, - ■ * CHBISTOHUBCH. March 17. v . The clouds of the infantile paralysis epidemic appear to be lifting. Not only is there a striking drop in the number of notifications, but the results of the serum' treatment at the Christchurch hospital are better than were anticipated. • . • . lii the twenty-four hours ended at noon to-day no further cases w€re reported vin the Christchurch area, but two cases were reported from the country. ... A mild case was; received at the hospital yesterday,:'a boy of 11 years from Kaupokomri being admitted. The other pafcientsi are progressing satisfactorily.
CHILDREN AT ORTJBCH PALMERSTON N., March 17. Much public discussion has resulted from the disclosure that the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church in Palmerston North have been defying the health regulations prohibiting the attendance of children under 16 at services. A tally taken on Sunday. by a number of persons showed that . 130 children, obviously under that age, were in the building at one time. The health authorities'have, been informed, and it is understood police prosecution will follow'.'
