A Berlin message reports the death of Professor von Wasserman, the discoverer of the blood test. Lord Jellicoe is spending a few days at Algeciras. It is understood that he is going home in the Mooltan from Gibraltar on the 22nd, * * Mr J. Hi Sheat has resigned the position of secretary and treasurer to. the Eltham Library Committee, and Mr Douglas Clement has been appointed his successor. —Argus. Very eulogistic reference was made to the work of the chairman of the Fire Board (Mr. J. G. Osborne) at the meeting of the board yesterday. On the motion of Mr. Welsh a.cordial vote of thanks was passed, to Mr. Osborne for the able manner in which he had presided over the affairs of th’e board, and also specially for the enthusiastic way in which lie had kept in touch with the brigade’s team during the demonstration and given them the benefit of his assistance in many ways. In acknowledging the compliment, Mr. Osborne said he was very pleased to have the good opinion of his fellow members, and it had been a pleasure to him to be associated with the superintendent in helping on the affairs of the brigade.
